MY RANCHING LIFE Billboard Project - Interstate
90 Eastbound
Mile Marker 76.86 ... Amongst all the Wall Drug Billboards ...
At the Intersection of Past & Present
A view of my view from the saddle of the filmic
world that is MY RANCHING LIFE - full of the western heritage that lives
on within the ranching communities of South Dakota.
Thank you to my
ranching business partner Lyle O'Bryan for inviting me into the ranching
world and crew south of Belvidere, South Dakota - allowing me to step
across the threshold into what seems like another era packed with drama
and adventure. Thanks also to the rest of the crew of cowboys past
present and no longer with us who are the cast of characters in MY RANCHING LIFE photographic series. And of course thanks to my
supporting cast of cattle and horses - who make it all happen. More stories, photographs and
details to come ... stay tuned.
(Funded in part by the South Dakota Arts Council Project Grant : South
Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of
South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and the National
Endowment for the Art.) THANK YOU.
"Riding Drag on the Brunsch Ranch" ( on my old trusty photo Pony BEAU)
Sometimes current, sometimes from the past. Photographs (some from horseback some not from horseback) & writings from my time working on the Quarter Circle XL Ranch since 2002 when I relocated from New York City to the tiny Badlands town of Interior, South Dakota & started ranching as a complete novice - to present goings on with me, Pony & the cows...Riding across the same land as the cowboys who came before me, I sit on my Pony & look across the land and try my best to time travel. Riding around in a cinematic day dream under a cyclorama sky on this back lot of a western movie set in 'costume' playing the role of my lifetime.
